We were lucky enough to shoot ‘High-cut Summer’ for Retrosweat as a tribute to the return of the icon 1980s high-cut swimsuit fashion and the favourite beach goer hot spots of the idyllic Sydney seaside. We took inspiration from the stylised 1980s holiday snaps and Aussie man-cave pinup-style calendar shots. Shot by Chrissie Hall from Xray Doll, hair and make up by Sonia Allen and retouching by Wassim Bazzi from Xray Doll and vintage pieces generously donated by Miss Brown Vintage
It’s always nice when your hard work pays off, so we were pretty chuffed when our ‘Dreams and Nightmares’film clip for The Art won two awards at last weekend’s Australian Independent Music Video Awards (AIMVA). We not only nabbed the award for the Best Punk Rock Video of the year, but also scored the Best Costume and Make-up of the year (a huge thanks again to our make-up and costume super stars), Glitta Supernova and Karen Hopwood!
We’d like to take this opportunity to once again thank everyone involved in the shoot as well as the AIMVA for recognising a good thing when it sees it.
US magazine Elegant will be featuring our work in the latest (August) issue!
The editorial centres on some of Sydney’s more bizarre murder cases. You see, after our shoot for Peek Tours, we were more than a little inspired by Sydney’s sordid past. While we had plenty of fodder to choose from, uncovering a sequence of Sydney’s most bizarre historic murders really piqued our (morbid) curiosity. We found cakes laced with poison, transgender transgressions, a hacked up body in a suitcase, a love triangle gone horribly wrong…
Anyway, we gave these bizarre cases the Xray Doll treatment and are chuffed to be seeing it in the flesh. So grab yourselves a copy of Elegant here.
